Our current list of featured contributors includes the following people from across the state of Virginia:
John Richardson
John Richardson received a Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Sciences with Honors from The University of Virginia in May, 1975 and a Masters of Liberal Studies from Hollins University in 1986. He has been teaching Earth Science, Biology and Environmental Sciences for thirty years and is currently teaching Environmental Sciences at the Gereau Center for Applied Technology and Career Exploration in Rocky Mount. He was named the Franklin County Teacher of the Year in 2000-2001, and Virginia Conservation Teacher of the Year for 2006.
Bailey Showalter
Bailey F. Showalter has a B.S. from Georgia Tech and has taught middle school and high school mathematics for 23 years. She has served as a department chair, coached the math academic team, and served on the Geometry SOL Content Review Committee.
Matt Brain
Matt Brain is currently an Assistant Principal for Buena Vista City Public Schools at Parry McCluer Middle School. He has 10 years teaching experience in the Social Sciences with his students obtaining a 98%+ SOL pass rate. Additionally, Matt has participated in SOL content review for World History II. He currently holds a BA in Social Science Education and is pursuing a Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
Dawn Verhoeff
Dawn Verhoeff graduated from Ferrum College in 1997 with a BS in Biology, a BS in Pre-Professional Science and a minor in Chemistry. Dawn began an Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program in 2004, and recently completed her master's degree. She has taught Earth Science, Biology I, Chemistry I, AP/DE Biology, and AP/DE Chemistry.
Amber Meador
Amber Meador earned her Masters degree from the University of Virginia. In the 2005-2006 school year she received the Teacher of the Year recognition at her elementary school.
