Our Product

Q. What districts are using IA?

A. Currently, Interactive Achievement is implemented in over fifty districts across Virginia. Please click here for a full list of our districts.

Q. Does IA support both Mac and PC?

A. IA is fully compatible and operational on both Window's PCs, Apple Macintosh and all accompanying operating systems.

Q. Who writes your test items?

A. Interactive Achievement hires question writers based on their knowledge of the Virginia Standards of Learning, their experience in the educational field, and the demonstrated ability to write questions that mirror the SOL guidelines and follow the curriculum framework. In addition to the question writers, Interactive Achievement selects individuals that have excelled in their subject areas to review each question that is written.

Q. How many subjects does IA offer?

A. IA offers testing for the four core subjects of Math, English, Science, and History in grades 2-11.

Q. How many questions does IA have?

A. Currently, Interactive Achievement offers over 20,000 questions from the four core subject areas. All questions are tagged by SOL and Bloom's Taxonomy. There are also over 450 unique reading passages at various reading levels.

Q. Can IA report by SOL?

A. IA provides multiple reports to allow teachers and administrators to view students performance on given assessments. Reports include, but are not limited to, SOL Performance, Student Performance by Question, Item Analysis, and Student Mastery Reports.

Q. Can IA report by NCLB/AYP subgroup?

A. IA provides reporting by AYP and NCLB required subjects, categories and subcategories at the individual, classroom, school and district level. This includes, but is not limited to, item analysis.

Q. Does IA have any partnerships?

A. Interactive Achievement currently has multiple partnerships with organizations that are closely associated with the educational community. eInstruction, Scantron, and the Virginia School-University Partnership (VSUP) are just a few of the organizations that have entered into a partnership with IA.

Q. Can teachers enter their own questions?

A. Teachers and administrators can create their own questions for use within that district's exclusive database. IA offers a three-step approval process for question writing that can be engaged or disengaged per a district's request.

Q. Can districts test online and paper/pencil?

A. IA provides an online format for testing as well as a paper/pencil format. Once an exam is created, teachers and administrators have the choice of delivering the exam online or via paper/pencil. The student testing interface iTest is used for online testing and IA student answer sheets are used for paper/pencil testing.

Q. Does online testing provide the same tools as the SOL test (ruler, highlighter, etc.)?

A. iTest provides an online testing experience that directly simulates Virginia SOL online testing. iTest provides the highlighter tool, elimination tool, eraser tool, measurement tool (in inches or centimeters selectable by student), protractor tool, straightedge, compass and calculator.

Q. What technical requirements are needed to implement IA?

Q. Does IA work with our Student Information System (SIS)?

Q. Will our old scanners work with IA?

A. Scantron's ScanMark, OPSCAN, and iNSIGHT series (formerly Pearson/NCS) are compatible. Each are OMR scanners. IA works in tandem with Scantron Corporation to provide scanners for scoring paper/pencil assessments.

Q. Do we have to buy all IA subjects and grade levels?

A. You do not have to purchase all subjects for all students in your district. Individual or multiple subjects can be purchased for individual schools and grade levels. Please contact Jacob Gibson for more information.

I've loved Interactive Achievement! I think it's given the kids a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with the types of questions they might encounter on the reading test.
