• With an increasing workforce, Interactive Achievement found the answer to its space issue right across the street.

ROANOKE, VA. (May 06, 2013) With the recent announcement of Interactive Achievement’s (IA) private investment and expansion, a new community partnership was needed. Interactive Achievement and Jefferson Center have partnered to provide extra office space for IA’s growing workforce.  Interactive Achievement chose to expand to Jefferson Center, not merely for the proximity to its headquarters, but as a means to support the local non-profit organization that shares common goals with IA. Both Jefferson Center and Interactive Achievement assist in the growth and support of local students, value the importance of strong regional involvement, and focus heavily on community building through meaningful partnerships.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our offices into Jefferson Center and support their organization,” says Interactive Achievement’s CEO, Jonathan Hagmaier.  “Jefferson Center has wonderful programs for young people and we’re happy to be a part of that.”

Interactive Achievement has been a sponsor of Jefferson Center’s Family Series since near its inception.

“We are eager to welcome IA, a strong, local business into our family of more than 20 non-profit and locally owned business tenants,” says Jefferson Center Executive Director Cyrus Pace. “Our facility has long served as a community center. With Interactive Achievement’s move we are nearing capacity for long term tenant space and continuing to fulfill our mission to provide regional non-profits and locally owned businesses the opportunity to concentrate on mission, rather than capital.”

Interactive Achievement employees will begin moving to the new space in early May.  The offices will provide additional workspace for about 12 employees, with additional conference rooms for all IA staff. » More

  • Jonathan Hagmaier married into a great deal of entrepreneurial know-how, while his wife, Mary, married a man with extensive teaching expertise.

Both skill sets have proved equally useful in their business venture together.

“I kind of learned from her, that’s where I developed some of my business sense,” Jonathan said of his wife, who has owned a series of realty firms. “She brought that to the table and I just started learning from watching her go through that process.”

Now, they’re both helping thousands of teachers learn more about their students through Interactive Achievement, which provides online testing software to help educators analyze and track student performance on state benchmarks. In 2006, the couple teamed with fellow entrepreneur Matt Muller to start the company in Roanoke, and six years later, along with Vice President of Business Development Jacob Gibson, the team was named Virginia’s 2012 Small Businesspersons of the Year by the Small Business Administration. » More

The demands and pressures for positive results have led many Virginia school divisions to turn to the private sector to improve their performance. A Virginia company now helps more than two-thirds of the commonwealth’s school systems.

At Glenda Fralin's Lord Botetourt High School Algebra class, teaching tools include a "smartboard" and a computer program called onTRAC from Interactive Achievement. It assesses each student’s knowledge of every SOL for this course.
